Tuning re-establishes perfect pitch and greatly affects the piano’s sound. The strings react to changes in the soundboard, which in turn reacts to the slightest changes of the ambient conditions. Under normal climatic and playing conditions, your piano must be tuned at least once a year. A tuning at the beginning and the end of the heating season is even better. These are the bare minimum requirements, however. A concert piano must be tuned before each event in order to ensure the best performance. Please make sure that only qualified technicians tune your C. Bechstein piano, as improper handling can severely and permanently damage your instrument.
